After retiring from a long and successful career as an educator, principal, and Superintendent of Harbor Springs Public Schools in 1993, Tom Richards embarked on a 15 year home building career. During that time, he constructed and remodeled dozens of projects throughout the greater Harbor Springs area.
In 2008, Tom formed RT Builders LLC, a limited liability corporation with his son-in law Ray Mathews, and today oversees all aspects of company operations. Tom and his wife Sally, divide their time between Harbor Springs and Florida.
Ray Mathews was born and raised in Harbor Springs. Before joining RT Builders, Ray enjoyed a 30-year working relationship with his father Max, who retired from the construction and homebuilding business in In his position as the chief operations officer, Ray oversees all in-house and on-site operations for a year round staff of 5 employees including shop operations, materials preparation, cabinetry finishing, and much more.
Ray and his wife Kristi live in Harbor Springs and have two sons. Ray’s son Thomas, and Ray’s brother Mark, are also carrying out the family tradition by working full time for RT Builders.
